Chances are, you treat yourself in ways that you would never treat another human being. People who seek therapy for many different reasons -- depression, anxiety, relationship problems, overeating -- share with me that they beat themselves up and have a very difficult time forgiving themselves. I believe that this harsh treatment of self is behind many painful emotional states, and leads to destructive and self-defeating behavior. It a gift to be able to help people make a shift to take a truly kinder stance towards themselves. When my clients begin to view themselves and their own struggles with compassion, something magical happens. They experience profound changes in many aspects of their lives.
